The Cedar Grove school district will make room for new staff members after the Board of Education approved several changes at a July 28 meeting.
Elementary schools
Meryl Behrle was approved as the new resource room teacher at North End Elementary School. Behrle’s salary will be $51,625.
Victoria DiGirolomo will replace first grade teachers Christine Holmberg and Karen Coutts at South End Elementary beginning Oct. 22 through June 19, 2015. Holmberg and Coutts are currently out on maternity leave, according to Superintendent of Schools Michael Fetherman. DiGirolomo will receive a prorated salary of $47,625 for the 2014-15 school year.
Memorial Middle School
Colleen Bulger was hired as a middle school social worker. Bulger’s position and salary of $51,625 will become effective Sept. 1.
Lisa Williams will serve as part-time secretary for the middle school. Her appointment was approved after board members accepted her resignation as a paraprofessional at Cedar Grove High School. Williams’ new secretary position, which starts Sept.1, has a base salary $24,482.
Board members also accepted the resignation of English Teacher Erika Cirone, which became effective July 11.
Cedar Grove High School
The board approved the hiring of Thomas Jones, who will serve as a high school physical education teacher. Jones’ salary will be $47,625. Jones was also approved to be the junior varsity boys’ basketball coach, for which he will be paid a stipend of $5,523 for the 2014-2015 school year. Both positions begin Sept. 2.
Also beginning Sept. 2, teacher Charlotte Gaviria will join the high school’s English department. Her starting salary is pegged at $51,625.
Sandra Gaudiosi was approved to take on the high school paraprofessional’s seat, which was previously filled by Lisa Williams, who will now be a part-time secretary at Memorial Middle School. As a paraprofessional, Gaudiosi’s salary will be $13,125.75.
Further stipends were approved during last month’s meeting, concluding the high school staff changes made for the upcoming school year.
With a stipend of $5,365, the board approved Steve Adams as an assistant football coach.
Two stipends of $787 each were approved for Michael Konopka (Pep Club advisor) and Nicholas Murphy (Irish Club advisor).
